I WON

I finally had my win at Liverpool. I just knew that a win was around the corner. Nobody could lose that many times and not win at some point in time. Let's see if I can stay ahead tonight when we play cards. You guys ready to lose???

Rain, rain, go away

I told Dave if we have one more day with rain I'm moving back to Maryland. Is this usual weather for this area?

I should have stayed home instead of galloping all over Hamel, Staunton, and Edwardsville. I thought I was on the mend with my arm, but oh no, I had to go and trip up a flight of stairs and hurt the opposite arm. I was so mad with myself I just sat there and cried. I am an accident waiting to happen. To add to that, I hurt the right leg. Of course its the one without the arthritis. So now, I gimp around on both legs, can't hold anything heavy in my hand, can't dress myself, can't fix meals, and the worse is I can't do my cards, scrapbook, or paint. I am definitely mad that I could be so clumsy. I hope the ice and heat will help me get through this quickly. Maybe tomorrow? Anyway, that is my tale of woe for the day.

New Desk and Other Odds and Ends

Well, I finally found a desk after hitting at least 6 antique shops in the area. Got it at a very good price. Looking for antiques, I would suggest you hit the Homestead Flea Market and Antique Shop on Route 140 in Bethalto. There prices were set to sell. You can buy anything from soup to nuts. Of course when I saved so much on the desk I did buy a few more items. Now the job of setting everything up in the office. I can finally get everything off the computer table which both Dave and I have used as a catch-all. Now to locate Bill and Cindi so we can move the table out of the kitchen and into the office.

What a Gift!

Cindi gave me a most needed gift for Mother's Day, two housecleanings a month. Wow! So, Tuesday afternoon she shows up to clean my kitchen and bathroom floors. First off, "Mom, where do you keep your mop?" "Mop, what mop?" Now I have one of those new fangled things that you just push around the floor and hope the dirt comes up with it. I haven't owned a good ole fashioned mop since she was in grade school. Ok, so I didn't have the mop. Now she asks for a bucket. Is she kidding? If I had the mop I would have the bucket but since no mop no bucket. By this time I thought I better start making a Walmart shopping list. I put a broom at the top of the list since she had made remarks in the past about my broom not doing a good job. Now I thought that all brooms sweep the same, but I was wrong and Cindi was right. All my broom does is catch the dirt in the bristles and spread the dirt around. So, no more straw brooms. She tells me, "get the one with nylon bristles." Ok, I think I have my list together so off to Walmart I go. Oh yes, I don't want to forget the Limeoff. I'll be prepared next time Cindi.

Tired of Losing

OK. Enough is enough. Whose cheating in Liverpool? I haven't won a game in months (I think its been months). I always start off well and then down the tubes I go. How can anyone win with an opponent that gets 4 jokers in a hand? Give me a break. My late mother-in-law used to say, "if you run around your chair 2 or 3 times it will break the cycle." Shoot, I'll give anything a try, even stand on my head if I thought it would do any good. Ok everyone, its my turn.

Wedding Album

Lauren's album is finished. It does look good even if I do say so myself. Dee worked with all pictures from childhood through the wedding shower. I took over and completed the album with the wedding, opening gifts, and back home in Nebraska.

On another note.....Since moving my scrapbooking room down into the dining room I find I accomplish more. The biggest asset is the lighting. I love having everything at my fingertips. Just take my chair which is on rollers and scoot across the room to retrieve whatever I might need for my project.

Getting It Together

What an ordeal and I'm not even doing the moving. Going up and down the stairs to do my scrapbooking has become quite a chore. My legs just don't work like they used to. So.......I am moving everything down to the dining room since I don't use that room anyway. Just watching Cindi makes me tired. It's been a long time since I've had energy like that. She makes 2 to 3 trips down the steps to my one. She has her arms full with furniture or boxes and I am loaded down with (a) book or small item. Well, I am anxious to get the room organized so I can start doing my cards again. Have several orders to fill so I have to hustle.
Thanks Cindi for all your help. Could not have done it without you.

A New Toy

Dave bought himself a new toy. A all-in-one remote for the TV. Well, I'm not very good learning new things. He gave me a short lesson on how to use this universal remote before taking off for Chorale. You take the control and aim it at the TV and give it a shake. With that it comes on. Sure it does!!! After 3 trys I got sound but no picture. OK, lets start over again. Now I have a picture with no sound. OK, we'll do it again. Wow, my DVD works. Back out of that and try again. Osps, I'm taping a show. How did I do that? Wish I could remember since I want to tape something tonight. Turn it off and start over. Why is it still recording? Oh what the heck, I'll figure that out later. Let me do this slowly this time. Shake the remote. Press TV while facing the screen. So far, so good. I think I did it. I have a picture and sound. Oops, why is the menu screen on top of my picture. I gave up. I watched TV in another room. I'll figure it all out later.

A New Bed

How novel! A new bed. While that may seem strange that I would blog that Dave bought a new bed while I was in Maryland, you have to understand that for me to sleep in a bed is a rarity. Between my RLS, leg cramps, and breathing problems when laying down I usually end up on the couch in a sitting position for the night. It gets to be old in a real short time. Well, I tried it out last night and actually didn't do too bad. I slept for several hours before those leg cramps woke me up. Hopefully, the bed will work for me. Dave made sure that there were ample pillows to raise my head on. I didn't mention that you need a step ladder to get into the bed. You should have seen me with this bad arm of mine getting up and into the bed. From your perspective it probably seems funny, but from my perspective, it was very frustrating.

clean up

Today I am going through closets and throwing away clothes that I have not worn but have stared me in the face for two years. Figured it was time to get rid of them. Out they go.
Right now I am overwhelmed with what has to be done. I am hoping to make room for my scrapbooking supplies in the dining room since I don't use it except to draw and/or paint. Doing the stairs is getting harder and harder. I need to get as much stuff on the first floor that I can.
I guess I better get to work.

Back Home

It's good to be back home again. My sister still has much to do before the house goes on the market. From what I understand everything has to be ready by June 1st. Ouch! I have never seen so much stuff in all my life.

On another note: What a wonderful surprise to come home and find out Cindi and Rebekah had cleaned my house and gotten rid of all the dust bunnies. I get so many of them floating around, that I see them in my sleep. Thank you Cindi and Rebekah. The house looks great. I didn't have to do anything except unpack when I got home. Dinner is at the Weedon's so I can just relax my first day home after being gone a month.
