After Route 66

After finishing Route 66 in California, Sandra and I began our trek through CA up to the Oregon Coastal Highway. It was absolutely breathtaking traveling over the mountains with the Pacific Ocean below in all its splendor. We stopped as often as we could to take pictures and to just sit and watch the waves roll in. We even caught sight of a whale which was exciting. Traveling through California we saw red skies which were eerie looking. We were informed that it was the forest fires in the distance that were causing the red skies.

From there we drove into Idaho and kept on moving into Colorado and Wyoming. I wish we could have had more time in those states but Sandra had an important meeting she had to attend in MD on the 30th of August and it was now the 26th of August. Most of our time was spent sightseeing in the Southwestern part of the country along Route 66. By the 27th we were in Nebraska, where we visited my granddaughter and her husband. It was a great way to finish up the vacation. We had dinner, which Lauren informed us was prepared by Dean, and ice cream which Lauren said she fixed by dipping out of the carton. After dinner they showed us around their new apartment, and then we just sat around talking and enjoying each others company.
