Quiet Time with God
There are times in our life when we feel so removed from the presence of God that we cry out, “Lord, Lord, Hear my cry!”
I wrote this prayer when I was going through some rough times. For me it is important to write down every prayer and response so that I can see for myself how God has intervened on my behalf. What happens with many of us is we don’t give God a chance to respond. We finish our prayer, and off we go without a backward glance.
“Lord if it be your will, take this affliction from me. If not, help me to live with it. Remember me Lord, for in my youth I did not depart from you. Send to me your Spirit to guide me along the way. Show me Your will for my life that I may not waste away. My life belongs to You and only You. Where do I go from here? My vision is cloudy. Help me to look for the good in all men. Teach me to show mercy to all that may not show mercy to me. Help me to forgive those that would come against me. Help me with my misplaced anger that I may turn my anger into joy. Every word I write or speak may it bring joy and comfort to all that may listen. I come to You with an open heart. Spread your wings and cover me. This burden I carry, I take to the cross, and there I leave it at your feet. Speak clearly Lord, for I listen with open ears.”
Very quietly God spoke to me through His Word in II Corinthians 12:7-10. His response did not come immediately, but through much prayer and quiet meditation.
Give God the glory. Amen!
